What did Leslie mean by money is not the problem in Bridge to Terabithia?

Jess's family had money issues, because they had so many people living in there house, and only the father had a job. Because of this when Leslie gives him the art kit he automatically thinks that it must have cost her a lot, because that is his mindset living in the family he does. Leslie's family however do not have money issues, They live out in the country so they can concentrate on writing. Both of her parents are successful authors, and money for this is not an issue, or a problem.
