Can you use normal salt to clean a navel piercing?

well saline solution is basically salt water but i would say no, unless you mix a table spoon of salt in warm water and then apply it...that would be a lot better.

Actually, salt has IODINE in it which is bad for piercings. You need either LOW iodine or iodine free stuff to clean it with. So, if you're not goign to use saline solution (which was recommended to me, and it comes in a spray bottle so you can just spray a q-tip and clean it that way) then mix 1/3 teaspoon SEASALT with 8oz water. You can find seasalt at a normal supermarket near the regular salt. Make sure it says directly on the container that it has low iodine or it is (preferably) iodine-free.

I'm not really sure if the person who posted the first answer knew what they were talking about.
