Until '48, many Jews who were removed from their homes in Europe found that nowhere would let them in, and came to the Holy Land illegally, since the British wouldn't let them in there, either. (The British were appointed by the U.N. to run the area they called Palestine from the early 1900's to 1948.)
In '48 the U.N. decided (voted) to make Israel an independent nation and member of the U.N. The surrounding Arab (mostly Muslim) nations all attacked Israel. Israeli Jews begged their Arab neighbors to stay in their homes, but most left, believing the Arab nations' promises & threats (that they would kill all Israelis and give the land to the Arabs who left their homes).
When the attack failed, the millions of Arabs who left their Israeli homes were expelled from Israel, and the millions of Jews living in Arab countries were expelled from their homes.
Israel welcomed all expelled Jews with full Israeli citizenship. Almost all Arabs expelled were forced to live in refugee camps. Only Jordan allowed expelled Arabs to enter. (Jordanian hospitality was soon "repaid" when they tried to stage a coup against the Jordanian government.)
Since then, militant Muslim (or Islamist is another Word for militant Muslim) groups have consistently agitated in Arab countries (and now in Iran, which is not Arab) and also in PA-controlled territories against Israel, often as (part of) the government. Few Arabs living in Arab countries are eager for war with Israel, except for militant Muslims.
In '79, 3rd Egyptian President Anwar Sadat signed the only Arab peace treaty with Israel. He was assassinated in '81 by militant Islamists.
Today, militant Muslims have taken over (or are feared to be taking over) in a few Arab countries, and also Iran (and Gaza).
Iran, in particular, is believed to be developing, and very close to being able to use, nuclear weapons. Because of the militant Islamist beliefs of its leadership, many in the region (including most non-Islamist Arabs) are afraid that they will use these weapons, even though it is unlikely any Iranians would survive the inevitable counter-strike. (Both strikes would be a disaster for the entire region, making Chernobyl look like a minor inconvenience by comparison.)
Because they also believe this, Israel will soon strike militarily at Iran to prevent it, and everyone in the region (including most of the Iranian people) will breathe a huge sigh of relief.
Fearful of militant Islamists, the U.S. President will probably condemn the Israeli action anyway.
