What are disadvantages to the invention of the wheel?

I suppose the only real answers can be philosophical ones. Inventing the wheel lead to every kind of technology which has given us a fairly serious pollution problem, which is a disadvantage. If we had no technology we wouldn't have atomic bombs but neither would we have CAT scan machines or artificial hearts or irrigation systems in places where there is no rainfall to speak of.
