"Marigold" is a generic common name that refers to a number of separate plant species:
The two most recognisable are the African Marigold and the French Marigold which are common seasonal or annual plants:
The botanical name of the African Marigold is Tagetes erecta and the botanical name for the French Marigold is Tagetes patula
In addition, there is the Pot Marigold (Calendula officinalis) which is commonly used in herbal remedies is it is not reltated to either of the above and carries only a passing physical resemblance.
