How do subcultures express themselves?

they create their own values and norms of behavior. An example would be the youth of the USA. They have an unique set of values that is somewhat different from the values of the "adults" that also live in the country. They may like to wear their hats on backwards or their pants hanging down lower on their hips. They may also like to color their hair, get piercings or tattoos, but for the most part, these different values are quite harmless to the stability of society. These young people are simply trying to find ways to express themselves and their values.
