What does p14k mean on a yellow gold band?

Not sure if the "p" was a slip in the typing but as for the 14k, I can help out there. The k would signify carat - 24 carat gold is pure gold but is very soft. So other metals are mixed into the gold to help harden it and prolong its life.

Most likely the number will be stamped onto some part of the jewellery. This comes mainly in 9k and 18k but in Asia 14k is common as well. 9k would be the hardest and most durable whereas the 18 would be the most expensive.

14k can also be found on American gold as well as 10k etc, in the UK you get 9ct 15ct 18ct etc
