What is a scientific issue that has arisen in the last ten years?

It is a very broad question but I can give you an example. An example of a major scientific issue is overpopulation. Near the end of 2011, the global population reached 7 billion. This is a huge problem because the amount of people are rising at an exponential rate and there are not too many signs of slowing down. However, it is projected the by 2050, the global population will be at 9 billion the population will become more steady.
