Well, it depends on what you're using them for. If you are trying to express an opinion you have about golfing attire (or something more transcendant)--it can be an abstracted artistic expression of functional art. If you are interested in it, you can look into the Dada Movement (1916-1921)--whose anti-war feeling brought on anti-art approaches by creating things that do not necessarily function as they appear. Sometimes people would create costumes, or design things--and incorporate them into "performance art" pieces, in which they would act something out or do something to get their point across to the viewer. So it is totally do-able! It's all a matter of thinking like an artist!!:)
