How do you get the year from serial number pw 50?

If the vin on the neck of the frame is 17 digits then the 10th digit is the year code. If that digit is a number 1,2,3 ect. the it will be a literal translation to a 2001, 2002, 2003 ect. If that digit is a letter then see list. I'm assuming you know it is not a 2010 thru 2012 because the letter system has started over. I,O,U,Q,Z and 0 (zero) are not used in the year code.
