When building with steel roofing/siding, a soft washer screw or nail is used to fasten the steel to the purlins. A 'goof scrrew' is used when the installer misses the purlin with the original screw, a 'stitch' and 'goof screw' are then used to replace the smaller, missed screw, thereby sealing the hole.
