Edmund Burke was a leading British political leader of the Enlightenment. He served as a member of the British Parliament for many years. Burke wrote a number of political essays and a book on aesthetics entitled A Philosophical Enquiry into the Origin of Our Ideas of the Sublime and the Beautiful in 1757.
