In Nightfall Bloodlines on Facebook what does your darkness represent?

The Darkness score is a measure of your 'evil'. You get negative Darkness for acts that helps humans, and positive points for those that really harm them. As far as I am able to tell, there is no obvious in-game effect, though it may determine what adventures you are offered.
