What is the climax of Jack and the Beanstalk?

In "Jack and the Beanstalk" Jack runs to get and axe an cuts the beanstalk down resulting death to the giant.

Yet in "The Thief and the Beanstalk" the giantess, wife of giant, actually cut the beanstalk down and killed her own husband while Jack thought he was the murderer.
