How would you extract zinc?

As with many metals, pure zinc can be prepared from an ore by one of two methods. First, the ore can be roasted (heated in air). The other method is to pass an electric current through a compound of zinc. The electric current causes the compound to break apart. Pure zinc metal is produced.
