Ask him WHY he's upset and try to help him if you can.

Perhaps he sees the whole procedure as an assault on his autonomy and integrity, causing him actual bodily harm. and I suppose it is When you think about it, I would start by asking him to forgive you. there is after all no good reason for circumsicion.
