How is the word language defined?

Language is the unique human intellectual ability of learning and employing a series of complex systems of communication. Language employs phonetic, visual, and tactile signs that convey meaning and allow the exchange of knowledge, thoughts, and emotions. A second definition of language is the particular system of communication that is employed by a specific human community such as a tribe or nation and that conveys that community's culture.
