How did Hollywood adapt to entertainment?

The early film business was based in the Northeast. But there was a cartel of owners that tried to keep new producers from getting in the business. Some producers went out west to escape the cartel.

The film "Nickelodeon" (1976) tells this history. It stars Ryan O'Neal, Burt Reynolds, Tatum O'Neal, Brian Keith, Stella Stevens, John Ritter, Jane Hitchcock.
