What are some examples of metaphors in the Bible?

Biblical Metaphors:

The simplest form of metaphor is: "The [first thing] is a [second thing]."

"All flesh is grass" (Isa. 40:6)

"The Lord is my shepherd." (Psalm 23:1)

"they are ferocious wolves." (Matt. 7:15)

'I am the Good Shepherd' [John 10:11]

Ephesians 5:22-33 compares the union of husband and wife to that of Christ and the church.
