it really wasn't diffrent they drove ambulince,worked in factories and some did the engineering for the royal air force (RAF) eg planes and weapons but women at home cooking etc.
it was more of a culture change in WW2 as the traditional female role as housemaker was extended into the workplace - factories, offices etc. Women " learned " to smoke, and, for some ,were introduced to Birth Control ( condoms ) fo0r the first time.
They sampled independence..........
