Why did the people of Egypt not revolt against the pharaoh even though they had to pay high taxes and work on major building projects?

The commoners believed that the Pharaoh was a god and if his will was not done, they would die from starvation or from violent marauders. Additionally, most Egyptians did not have weapons, so even had they wanted to revolt, they were incapable.
