Why does my TurboTax say my tax return has been accepted, but the IRS website does not show that it has been received?

Your TurboTax software may show that your tax return has been accepted because it has been successfully transmitted to the IRS. However, the IRS website may not yet show that it has been received because there can be a delay in updating their system. It is common for there to be a lag between when your return is accepted and when it is processed and acknowledged by the IRS.
