My 98 Ford Taurus cooling system broke how much will it cost to get it repair and how come you cant drive with out it?

The cost to fix the coolant system depends on what is broken. It could be less than $100 for a hose to over $1000 for a head gasket. You cannot run the car without coolant because the engine would overheat and seize up.
