Can you put coffee grinds in the sink drain?

In most cases yes- it is safe to wash away ground coffee in the sink and it serves as foul drain odours absorbent as a side benefit. However old or improvized drain system may get clogged- it only takes a place where the coffee can accumulate to spoil the party! If in doubt use them as mulch in the garden or throw them away.
