What is being gnostic?

Gnostic's were early Christians who believed in knowledge over god. Gnostic's were Christian's who were considered heretics to the council of the banning of the books of The Bible.

'Gnosis' means 'Knowledge', and Gnosticism is the philosophy that direct, personal experience of God is possible. Some believe that Gnosis is indispensible to salvation. Jesus said that many who cried 'Lord, Lord' would not be saved, because he never knewthem; this must mean some special type of knowledge for, if Jesus is accepted as God, he 'knows' everyone in the ordinary sense of the Word. The gospel of John says, 'shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free'. There are many Gnostics on earth today. I am one.
