Building maintenance refers to the care and upkeep of a building. This includes keeping the roof from leaking or repairing it; making sure the electric wiring is safe and functional; painting the inside and outside as needed; patching holes; keeping the Windows functional; making sure that the heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems (HVAC) work properly and are cleaned; sweeping and/or polishing the floors; emptying the trash cans; making sure the exit signs work; keeping the elevators operational and safe; checking the fire alarms, extinguishers, and hoses.... and all these sorts of tasks intended to make the building free of problems for its owners and occupants.
