Discretion is important in business as you need to have the ability to determine if the information that you are given is true and correct.

Some businesses decide to play the odds so to speak and give the benefit of the doubt, in other Words give a person a job or loan even if they can't provide enough proof that they can afford it or their references can't be contacted.

Others chose to play it safe and say no to anyone who does not meet all of their criteria.
