Emancipation

When a minor files for emancipation, it is not necessary to have the parents' permission. However, this does not mean that the court will automatically approve the emancipation request. Generally speaking, depending on which state the minor resides, it is necessary to show the court that the petitioner has a job, a checking account, and a place of residence in order to be self-supportive. Some states require that you are still attending school also, depending on your age when you file for emancipation. You need to go to the Family Court in your city or state and find out the requirements necessary in order to file for emancipation.
