Who invented the corked bat?

The Cb1 was a Corkball bat manufactured by Hillerich and bradsby for the most part, the Saint Louis market. It was made between the 30s and early 60s, for a game called Corkball, mainly played behind bars using the cork from a beer keg wrapped in tape for the ball. The rules are fairly simple, there's a pitcher a catcher and a hitter, if the batter misses and the catcher catches the ball, it's an out, if the hitter hits it and the pitcher misses it it's a hit; there are no actual base runners, it's a ghost running type situation. There are now actual cork balls that resemble tiny baseballs, and Markwort in Saint Louis currently is the only company that produces Corkball equipment. It's still played in many neighborhoods in Saint Louis.
