What does doing it for the vine mean?

Vines are short video clips, usually posted on social networking sites. They are filled with random activities to make people laugh, cringe, feel entertained, or think. At times, a person will ask a friend to do something goofy they can capture on video, such as trip over their own feet. If the friend objects, the person might say, "Oh come on. Do it for the vine."
