When does a thundercloud start releasing rain?

A thundercloud, or cumulonimbus cloud, typically starts releasing rain when it has accumulated enough moisture and condensation within its structure. This occurs when the cloud reaches a certain height and temperature, causing water droplets to coalesce and grow heavy enough to overcome updrafts. Once the droplets reach a critical size, they fall to the ground as precipitation, often accompanied by thunder and lightning.
