There are two significant mountain ranges known as the Grampians.
The "original" Grampian mountains are located in the Scottish highlands, in the northeast of Scotland. They include some of the highest mountains in the British Isles.
In 1836, explorer of Australia Major Thomas Mitchell discovered and named a range he called the Grampians, in western Victoria. These mountains from the very southern and western end of the Great Dividing Range, which travels down the entire east coast of Australia.
