What does the failsafe engine mode light in amber mean when it comes on in a 1999 xj8?

I have 1998 xj8 Jaguar. This light came. After a lot of research my children call dealer and took my car to their shop and let them diagnose while my engin was running with this warning. When they hoocked my car to diagnostic box they found a code and my problem was Break switch. I got the switch replaced and car is working fine.
