How do you change the ink on a Dell computer?

The first step (which the instructions on the machine don't tell you) is make sure the printer is switched on, otherwise you can't do this. Open the printer by lifting up the top of the machine from the front (above the print output tray), As you do this, the ink cartridges move into the centre where you can get at them. If the printer isn't switched on, they remain invisible and inaccessible. Open the cartridge holder by pulling the front edge gently towards you. It'll pop open and you can get the old cartridge out. Remove the tape from the new cartridge and insert: black ink on the left, colour on the right. Close the cartridge holder. Close lid, and you're ready to print.
