What are some safety features of the Mercedes W124?

The W124 version features adjustable seat belts that can help prevent serious injuries to those with large or small frames. The driver's side air bag, safety glass, easily removable side doors and redesigned rear seats were some of the best safety improvements for this model but the side panels of the car were not changed from the previous model so the changes that were made to other parts of the exterior were negated because the panels could still cause inward damage if it was hit on the side.
