The main power source for the Canon T90 is four AA-size batteries located under the base plate. I used to use NIMH batteries for my T90 and they worked just fine as long as I kept them charged. There is also an internal battery needed for memory back-up, a lithium battery (BR-1225 or CR-1220). This battery's life is approx. 5 years.
