What do Cockatoos eat?

Cockatoos feed mostly on seeds and grains. They have strong, curved beaks which are ideal for cracking hard seeds and nuts. They also enjoy a bit of sweet nectar from blossoms, and occasionally fruit.

Cockatoos in Australia favour the seeds, nuts and fruit (and berries and roots as well) of a variety of native plant species such as eucalyptus, casuarinas, acacias and banksias.
