What is Responsible for genetics?

the DNA in the nucleus undergoes replication,a process where a double stranded DNA gets divided into two single strands, this divided strands then gets double with the help of complementary strands. while dividing the parent strand is also found in the new strands. this is how the genetic information is passed on to next generation.
