The group that fought against the colonial North Carolina government from 1765 to 1771 was known as the Regulators. They were primarily made up of frontier farmers who opposed corrupt practices, high taxes, and lack of representation in government. The movement culminated in the War of the Regulation, which sought to address grievances against colonial authorities. The conflict ultimately ended with the defeat of the Regulators at the Battle of Alamance in 1771.
