Where does vannila come from?

Vanilla comes from the orchid species Vanilla planifolia, which is native to Mexico. The vanilla beans are the fruit of the orchid and are carefully harvested and cured to develop their flavor. While Mexico is the original home of vanilla, it is now also cultivated in other tropical regions, including Madagascar, Tahiti, and Indonesia, where different varieties are produced.
