Fred hollows major influence was the aboriginal people in Australia. He went to different outback communities and was shocked to see that most had eye diseases. Fred thought he'd like to be a missionary, but he changed his mind after doing some work at a mental hospital. He became a docto and eventually specialised in eye surgery.
