Why is petroleum considered a non-renewable energy source?

Petroleum is considered an non renewable energy source because it is made of billions and billions of tiny dead organisms packed together and squished to form it. The squishing of the organisms is a process that takes millions of years, and so when we use it up, it will be gone for several million years.
