What procedures should you follow if you are ill or need time of from work?

It depends on where you work as the policies for sick leave may differ between different organisations. Generally though one would telephone their employer as soon as possible to notify them that you cannot attend work. Usually you will be required to supply a medical certificate for your absence. If you require a longer period away from work then you should apply to take leave.
