What is the function of a leaflet?

Leaflets are a common form of grassroots or door to door marketing. Often, a business like a restaurant will distribute flyers and leaflets with their take-away menu or services listed. The purpose is to spread the Word in the local community of the business.

Leaflet distribution is cheaper than many other forms of direct marketing because there is not cost involved for stamps and postage. Neither is it necessary to buy address lists of recipients.

Leaflets, however, may end up in the bin as "junk mail" if they don't serve any purpose to the recipient.

A Leaflet can also be delivered within a newspaper or along with other leaflets but even though this is cost effective, it may not have a lasting effect on the recipient. It's always better to distribute one door to door on its own (solely).
