The very meaning of the pillar itself goes back to ancient Egypt and symbolizes stability and is used in reference to society as well as architecture. Even deeper into the meaning it symbolizes re-erection or resurrection.

Solomon himself named the pillars Jachin (established Rule) & Boaz (strength) but I believe it was a subconscious vision.

When God asked Solomon what he wanted rather than ask for wealth or power he asked for wisdom of Right & Wrong. I believe his own heart was the key and the reason his rule lasted so long as to say he was chosen to rule by God decided by the will of his own hand.

The very meaning is debatable I would thing one is a symbol of Ruing Justly and is the main pillar that holds up society today and I suspect the other is the simple knowledge and wisdom.
