With all the software out there aimed at College level or K-12 level students, a computer can quickly become a very resourceful tool for many different applications. OpenOffice.org , a free and open sourced program, is equivalent to Microsoft Word (It can even edit .doc files) and is completely free of charge. SchoolHouse, a Mac application, can keep all your appointments and grades in sync...something that I found very useful.
