First, there is no "Barry Soetoro." This is a common "Birther" myth spread by people who refuse to believe Barack Obama was born in Hawaii (even though he was). Mr. Obama did in fact get a step-father named Lolo Soetoro, but according to numerous credible sources, Mr. Soetoro never formally adopted Barack, nor did Barack ever use his step-father's last name during his life. He did go through a period of being known as "Barry" rather than Barack, but his last name remained Obama.

Second, contrary to various anti-Obama websites, there is NO credible evidence that Barack Obama was raised a Muslim. He was mainly raised by his mother (a non-practicing Christian) and by his maternal grandparents, who were Protestants (some sources say Methodists, others say Unitarians). Mr. Obama has relatives in Africa who are Muslim, but he also has relatives who are Buddhists, Jews, and various denominations of Christians. He has always said he is a Christian, and there is no proof that he ever practiced any other religion. He has also always said he was raised to have respect for all religious traditions; has repeatedly demonstrated that belief by holding holiday celebrations for Jews, Muslims, Christians, and others at the White House.
