Why does black make you hot?

Wearing black or other dark colored clothing on a sunny day can make you pretty hot. But why? Black and other dark colors absorb sunlight and entrap them. This happens to black asphalt, like stepping on it barefoot is much hotter than the white walkway. To ensure this doesn't happen, wear lighter colored clothes to keep you cooler on a hot summer day.
