What is the four step plan in math?

Four-Step Plan

Explore

• Determine what information is given and what you will need to find.
• Do you have all the information to solve the problem.
• Is there any information given that is not needed.

Plan

• Select a stragety for solving the problem. You may need to use more than one
• It is usually helpful to estimate the answer.

Solve

• Carry out your plan.
• If your plan doesnt work, keep trying until you find the one that works.
• Make sure your solution has appropriate units or labels.

Examine

• Does your answer make sense given the facts in the problem?
• Is your answer reasonable compared to your estimate?
• If your answer is NOT correct, make a new plan and start again.
