You should put a variety of foods in a lunchbox pertaining to the carriers age and diet. Food should be kept in seal able containers or already sealed packets. A good variety of food helps ensure that they won't go hungry. A little note or trinket is also good to place in a lunchbox.
When choosing items, it helps if you keep in mind what the person likes or dislikes. You can also purchase cutlery specifically for lunch boxes which are small and durable enough to work with whatever you are eating.
Classic lunchbox lunches items include: a sandwich, soup, pre-cut vegetables and fruits (think baby carrots, celery sticks, grapes etc.), crackers, granola bars, salad, juice boxes, yogurt, and fruit snack candies.
Don't forget to place an ice pack or two in your lunchbox to make sure that food stays cold. Alternatively, warm foods can also be packed in a thermos or a resealable, reheat-able container and placed in a lunchbox.
